F.A.C.T. Team
The Fatal Alcohol Crash Team responds to all fatal and potentially fatal, and most serious bodily injury crashes in Shelbyville, regardless of whether drugs or alcohol are involved. We work closely with the Shelby County Sheriff’s F.A.C.T. team if requested for additional resources. Due to our close working relationship, this is reciprocal for both city and county teams.
The team members are trained to treat these particular types of vehicle crashes as crime scenes and to investigate each as a potential homicide.
By using a fatal crash team concept these types of investigations will receive the benefit of the resources that the specialized team members bring to the scene. Each team consists of the following specialists:
Team Leader, Prosecutor or Deputy Prosecutor, a Detective, a Crash Reconstructionist and an Evidence Technician and a Drug Recognition Expert.
