Investigations
The Criminal Investigations Division of the Shelbyville Police Department is comprised of three Units; General Investigations, Narcotics Investigations, and Cold Case Investigations.
The General Investigations Unit utilizes 5 Investigators, one of which works the evening shift. These Investigators work all investigations which include Crimes against the Person, Property Crimes and Financial Crimes.
The General investigators regularly receive training in evidence collection, interview and interrogation, forensic pathology, homicide investigation, sexual assaults, and crimes against children, to name a few.
Our Investigators are equipped with and utilize some of the latest technology in lifting latent fingerprints, collection of DNA, and work closely with the Department Crime Scene Technician and Property Room Division.
Our Investigators pride themselves with having close working relationships with outside agencies and services such as: The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, The Indiana State Police, and The Indiana Department of Child Services, and many Federal agencies.
Our investigators work closely with surrounding law enforcement agencies and meet with them regularly, as crime has no boundaries and we are often working cases involving the same individuals.
