D.A.R.E. Program

D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Indiana fosters solid community relations as parents, schools and police departments work together to help the children of Indiana resist drugs and violence. Currently there are 90 law enforcement agencies across the state teaching over 34,000 children the core skills needed for safe and responsible choices.

These skills extend beyond drugs to healthy and mature choices in life. By developing core academic and life skills, D.A.R.E. Indiana furthers both educational and prevention goals so as students grow to be responsible citizens, they will lead healthier and more productive drug-free lives.

Officer Floyd Hastings serves as the Shelbyville Police Department D.A.R.E. Officer.  Officer Hastings works with local schools including Shelbyville Central Schools, Northwestern and Southwestern School Districts, as well as St. Joseph Catholic School.
